Kevin Joined the Prison Service in 1986 as a ‘graduate entrant’ on completion of a BA(Hons) degree in Humanities at Huddersfield Polytechnic.

He was a member of the 44th and final Assistant Governor Trainee scheme and served for one year at HMP Leicester as a prison officer as part of his training due to being under the age of 24 on joining the Service. Kevin has since served in a variety of governor grade roles in HMPs Wormwood Scrubs, Gartree, Nottingham, Glen Parva and as Deputy Governor at HMP Stocken. Following a secondment to both Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Police as part of those two county’s MAPPA teams,  Kevin specialised as the Public Protection Officer for the East Midlands based at Regional Office in Leicester.

Kevin was a member of the PGA NEC for over a decade and served as the Membership Secretary for the last five of those years. Prior to this Kevin was an active member of the PGA in organising the long-running Midland Meeting, which was recognised by the Association by the award of the O’Friel Phoenix. In October 2022 Kevin was awarded Distinguished Life Membership of the PGA on his retirement.

Kevin currently lives in the town in which he was born, Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire (and yes, he does love pork pies). He is a former chair and current member of the local branch of CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) a keen walker and regularly attends Melton Town FC matches.

He has maintained a lifelong addiction to Arsenal Football Club which is largely satisfied from a comfy chair in front of the TV these days.

Kevin is delighted to be a member of the RPGA committee and hopes to serve our association for many years to come.
